The wonderful "picnic" prepared by the family members was enjoyed by one and all. The afternoon was spent visiting with our "cousins"and looking at family photos and memorabilia and taking photos of the various family groups. The family of Sarah and Aleak Lee had the most representation with 21 members, the oldest member present Bernice (Anderson) Miller, at age 84, the youngest member was Rachel Shepherd, at age 5, the granddaughter of Dale and Janice Shepherd and Marcia (Morrison) Davidson, of Seabrook, Maryland won the prize for traveling the longest distance. We had three families with 5 immediate family members in attendance; the Darwin Anderson family, the Bob Lee family and the family of Betty (Lee) and Gilbert Lindberg. I was happy to report to the Anderson Families that the name of Andrew K. Anderson, his wife and children and his parents and brother and sister and nephew were found among the passengers on the 1846 passenger list of the Brig Norden sailing from Stavanger, Norway on the 10th of May 1846 and arriving in New York on 15 July 1846. It was with great sadness to report the death of two of our staunchest family members this year: Bessie May (Anderson) Myers, age 88, passed away 14 May 2005 in Berthoud, Colorado and Paul Odson died the 11 of June 2005 at his home in Corning at the age of 92, husband of the late Mildred Anderson. Darwin Anderson also announced the death of Virgil Anderson, his brother, and a grandson of Ole and Ellen Anderson, on 29 July 2005 in Riverton, Wyoming. There were several marriages and births to report. Dennis Devine, one of our Ole and Ellen Anderson family members and a long time fan of the late Johnny Cash, has the honor of serving as Host and Emcee at The Heart of America 1st Annual Tribute to Johnny Cash which will take place Thursday 1 September 2005 at the Harrison County Fairgrounds in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Congratulations, Dennis! The 99th Anderson Reunion will be the 6th of August 2006 in the Villisca Community Center. See you then. |
