Sheila Garey and Gregory Polk

Sheila Garey and Gregory Polk were united in marriage on January 6, 2004, at the Fremont County Courthouse in Sidney, IA. Shauna McMahon, of Riverton, IA, was maid of honor. The best man was Johnny Burson of Essex, IA. Richard Hunt, magistrate, officiated over the ceremony.

A reception for the couple's immediate family was held Saturday, January 31, 2004 at the Ice House in Clarinda.

Sheila is a 1995 graduate of Villisca High School. She earned her associates degree as an executive secretary from Southwestern Community College in Creston in 1997. She is currently employed at the Tabor Manor in Tabor, IA, as a CNA. Greg is a 1992 graduate of Sidney High School. Gregory is a welder at Featherlite Trailers in Shenandoah. Greg and Sheila are both members of the Sidney Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

Parents of the bride are Allan and Phyllis Garey of Villisca. Her grandparents are Bill and Bonnie Garey of Villisca, and Ivan and Margaret James of Corning. Great-grandmothers are Florence James of Corning and Fern Firkins of Villisca.

Parents of the groom are Kim and Michele Polk of Sidney. The groom's grandparents are Charlie and Erma Faye Polk of Sidney, and Kenneth and Beverly Johnson of Lincoln, NE.

The couple resides in Sidney.

 

 

Holly Kline and Stanley Gillespie

Holly Blythe Kline and Stanley Douglas Gillespie were united in marriage on June 28, 2003 at The First United Methodist Church in Red Oak, IA with Rev. Nancy E. Schultz and Rev. Sandy Wainwright officiating.

Parents of the couple are Richard and Gloria Kline of Villisca and Mary Gillespie of Omaha, NE and Terry Gillespie of Red Oak. Holly is the granddaughter of Betty Crawford of Clarinda and the late Clark Crawford, Neil and Marge Kline all of Clarinda. Doug is the grandson of Stanley and Norma Skaug of Omaha, NE and Rod and Ora June Gillespie of Brady, NE.

The matrons of honor were Leigh Anne Kreshel of Winston-Salem, NC and Katie Olson of New Albany, IN, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids included Cameo Sidoruk of Omaha, NE, sister of the groom; Beth Kline of Shawnee, KS, sister-in-law of the bride; Jen Kline of Shawnee, KS, sister-in-law of the bride; Callie Porter of Gretna, NE, cousin of the bride; Julie Janney of Corpus Christi, TX, cousin of the bride; Whitney Bogdanski of West Des Moines, IA, friend of the bride; Jackie Skahill of West Allis, WI, friend of the bride and Diane Gibala of Chicago, IL, friend of the bride.

The best men were Tom and Sam Gillespie of Red Oak, brothers of the groom. Megan Peterson of Aurora, Ill. became the bride of Aaron Link of Naperville, Ill on Sunday October 5th at 11: A.M. at Wheaton, Ill. The ceremony took place in the gardens of Danada House with a reception following. The gardens were in bloom with beautiful fall colors as was the arch under which the ceremony was performed.

Megan is the daughter of Neal and Cathy Peterson of Shenandoah, IA. Aaron's parents are Jayne and Shelby Link of Naperville, Ill. Marvin and Deloris Peterson of near Villisca and Barbara Babbitt and the late Donald Babbitt of Des Moines are grandparents of the Bride. The exchange of vows and communion was given by Pastor Scott Hodge. Katie Kirsten of Omaha, NE, friend of the Bride, played violin music preceding the ceremony. Background music was provided by friends of the couple. Amy Mueller, friend of the couple was at the guest book. In charge of programs were Emily and Elizabeth DeStefano, friend of the bride of Shenandoah and Grant and Greg Focht, cousins of the Bride, of Stanton, IA.

The Bride wore an off-the-shoulder floor length gown of white satin with sequin beaded flowers scattered throughout. She wore a matching beaded sequin lace caplet with attached train. She carried a bouquet of orange lilies, red and yellow daisies, black magic roses, mums, berries and sunflowers. The Groom wore a black tuxedo with taupe vest and tie. He wore a sunflower boutonniere in his lapel.

Abby Peterson of Shenandoah served her sister as Maid of Honor. She was attired in a taupe satin floor length gown with spaghetti straps. A satin shawl of burgundy completed the ensemble. She carried a bouquet of fall colors. Bridesmaids were Sarah Beth Link, sister of the Groom of Georgia, Allysa Johnson of Minneapolis and Sara Deems of Elmhurst, Ill., friends of the couple. Their gowns and bouquets matched that of the Maid of Honor. Jacob Deems of Elmhurst, friend of the couple served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Dan Hoye, Eric Mueller, and Chad Watson all friends of the couple from Naperville, Ill. They all wore black tuxedos with vest and ties and fall colored boutonnieres. Nathan Rapp, cousin of the Bride from Independence, MO and the Groomsmen ushered the guests to their places.

Flower girls were Ally Focht, cousin of the Bride of Stanton, IA Elena DeSteffano of Shenandoah, IA,Madison, and Elena and Brooklyn Walrod of Grand Rapids, Michigan, all friends of the Bride. They wore long champagne colored gowns with assorted fall colored wide sashes around the waist that tied and draped down the back. Each wore gauntlets that matched their gowns. They were designed and sewn by the Bride's Mother. A halo of fall flowers and greenery was worn on their heads and each carried a basket of fall flowers.

A Reception brunch followed the ceremony in the beautifully decorated Danada House. A wedding cake on each table was of pumpkin and spice frosted in white with fall flowers and clusters of grapes adorning the cakes and tables. Favors for the guests was a recorded CD of love songs that were written and sung by the couple. Background accompaniment was by friends of Aaron's.

On October 12 the Brides parents hosted a Reception which was held at the Railroad Inn at Essex, IA.

Megan and Aaron former students of Judson Christian College at Elgin, Ill and College of Du Page at Naperville, Ill. are now making their home in Aurora, Ill. where both are employed. They honeymooned in Costa Rico.

The bride is the daughter of Steve and Judy Olson of Humboldt, IA. She is the granddaughter of Jean Olson of Humboldt, IA. She was given into marriage by her parents. The groom is the son of Stan Brownlee of Villisca, IA and Becky Brownlee of Clarinda, IA. He is the grandson of Norma Lawson of Clarinda, IA Honored guest was Dorothy Beanblossom of Des Moines, IA. Attending the Bride as the Matron of Honor was the bride's sister Molly Varangkounh of Humboldt, IA. Bridemaids were Dawn Van Boord of Altoona, friend of the bride; Kristen Stefl of Runnels, friend of bride; Jaclyn Olson of Humboldt, sister-in-law of the bride. Serving as Best Man was Clayton Carson of Breckenridge, CO, friend of couple. Groomsmen were Kyle Johnson of Ankeny, IA, friend of couple; Bryce Wood of Villisca, IA, friend of couple; Ben Wood of Chicago, IL, friend of couple. The attendant was Glen Fuhrmeister of Minneapolis, MN, friend of couple.

Vocal music for the ceremony was provided by Jara Johnson of Ankeny, IA, friend of the couple; Nate Hansen of Anita, IA and Dave Hopkins of Pella, IA, friends of the couple. The pianist was Tiffany Mayall of Humboldt, IA, cousin of the bride. Violin was by Nic Stockdale of Humboldt, IA, friend of the couple.

The Flower Girl was Claire Varangkounh of Humboldt, niece of bride. Ushers were John Olson of Humboldt, brother of bride; David Olson of Humboldt, brother of bride; Andy Branan of Iowa City, friend of couple; Tim Brand of Pella, friend of couple.

Scripture readers were Jeff Borgman of Des Moines, friend of couple; Nick Richtsmeier of Chicago, friend of couple. Guest book attendant was Holly Lyons of Humboldt, friend of the couple.

A reception followed at the Best Western Starlite Village in Fort Dodge, IA. Hosts and hostesses were Sheryl and LeRoy Messenger of Elk Grove Village, IL, aunt and uncle of groom; Mary Plathe and Steve Long of Humboldt, aunt and friend of bride.

Amy, a 2003 graduate of Central College, Pella with a BA in accounting is currently an auditor with KPMG, LLP in Des Moines. Tony is a 2002 graduate of Central College, Pella with BA in economics. He is currently a business analyst with Kingland Systems, Ames.

Following a honeymoon in Dunns River Falls, Jamaica, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Brownlee will reside in Ankeny, IA.

 

Miranda Leigh Kernen

Miss Miranda Leigh Kernen and Mr. Hunter Drew Faubion were united in marriage on Saturday, November 8, 2003 at Our Lady of Walsingham Roman Catholic Church in Houston with the Rev. Fr. James T. Moore PhD. officiating.

A traditional High Mass in Latin (Novus Ordo) with Gregorian chant was offered in thanksgiving. Music for the ceremony was provided by the choir of Our Lady of Walsingham led by organist and choirmaster, Byron E. Franklin. The service was the first to take place in the new church of Our Lady of Walsingham.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Kernen of Red Oak, Iowa and Ms. Meri Kernen of Villisca, Iowa. She is the granddaughter of Kenneth Kernen & the late Jean Kernen and Helen Lowe & the late Howard Lowe of Villisca, Iowa. The groom is the son of Dr. Jack Faubion and Mrs. Mary Faubion of Nederland, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Milton Oscar Faubion of Evant, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Drew Horn of Beaumont, Texas.

Escorted by her father, the bride chose an elegant cap-sleeved white gown with a cathedral length train, adorned with cut-out lace and pearl beading. The bodice was adorned with seed pearls, and transparent barrel beads. The bride wore a dainty tiara accented with pearl clusters and crystal flower petals. An elbow length veil adorned with double-faced crystals completed the brides ensemble. Miranda carried a traditional bouquet of 20 white roses and blue delphinium hand tied in white ribbon.

Attending the Bride as Maid of Honor was Ms. Erin Halk of Huntsville, Texas. Bridesmaids were Ms. Melinda Cramer of Hickman, Nebraska; Mrs. Kim Blanchard, cousin of the groom, of Sour Lake, Texas; they wore Regal Blue floor length dresses and Ms. Addison Jean Kernen of Huntsville, Texas wore a hand sown silver floor length gown with silver bows along the neck line made by Mrs. Kim Blanchard. The bridal party processed into the sanctuary to an organ solo of A Mighty Fortress is our God.

Serving as honorary attendants were Ms. Elizabeth Brzezinski of Alvin, Texas; friend of the couple; and sisters of the bride, Mrs. Jennifer Magnee, of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Michelle Dixon, of Nodaway, Iowa; Ms. Sarah Kernen, of La Grange, Kentucky; and Mrs. Joline Anderson, of Zimmerman, Minnesota.

Serving as Best Man was Mr. Stavros Megas, Groomsmen were Mr. Chris Megas and Mr. Scott Cooley all of Nederland, Texas; Mr. Cory Platt of The Woodlands, Texas. The groom and groomsmen all wore black tuxedos. The Ring Bearer was Tristan Royer of Nederland, Texas. Ushers were Mr. Joseph Blanchard of Sour Lake, Texas and Mr. Joe Vasconcellos of Katy, Texas.

Flowers were provided by the Cutting Garden. At the end of the wedding liturgy the couple laid a bouquet of roses at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in honor and memory of their grandparents. A reception followed at the Jillians Atlas Dance Club in the Entertainment Marque in Houston. The tables were decorated in the couples wedding colors, Blue and Silver. Fragranced white butterfly soaps were given to guests as favors.

Miranda a 1999 graduate of Villisca High School is currently a student at Sam Houston State University studying criminal justice and psychology. Hunter is a 1994 graduate of Nederland High School and currently works for Gulf Coast Trade Center as a Community Service Specialist. Miranda and Hunter are both proud members of the Kiwanis Club of Huntsville.

The couple would especially like to thank their parents for hosting such a lovely, memorable weekend and extend their gratitude to their many friends who traveled so far to witness their marriage. Following a honeymoon in Galveston, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Faubion will reside in Huntsville, Texas.

Grandparents are Roy and Carol Miller of Chambers, LaVone and the late Benny Johring of O'Neill, and great-grandmother Agnes Brennan of Redfield, South Dakota. The groom is the son of Marvin and Evelyn Hopf, of Orient, Iowa, and the grandson of Elmer and Martha Krauss of Corwith, Iowa, and the late Theodor and Martha Hopf of Orient.

The 5:00 ceremony was officiated by the bride's uncle, Craig Johring of South Bend, Nebraska. The maid of honor was Amber Miller, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kellie White and Louise Flaugh, friends of the bride, and Denise Hopf, sister of the groom. Cousins Jaymee Johring and Mackenzie Miller were junior bridesmaid and flower girl. Candle lighters Annette Moser and Jessica Snyder, friends of the bride, and personal attendant Megan Thornton completed the bride's party. The best man was Andy Blazek, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Lee Mathiews and Brian Hula, friends of the groom, Clark Miller, brother of the bride, and junior groomsman Brett Miller, brother of the bride. Groomsman Mike Metzger was unable to attend due to military service in Iraq. Ushers were Greg Fairholm, Larry Mathiews, Shawn Sandell, friends of the groom, and Anthony Rodewald, friend of the couple.

A dinner and dance reception followed the ceremony at the Knights of Columbus Hall in O'Neill, from which the couple embarked, lit by sparklers, to a honeymoon in Beaver Creek, Colorado. A second reception was held on August 24 at the Community Room in Stanton, Iowa, where the couple is making their home.

Reverend Kincaid officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Vocalists were Ann Green and Jerod Moestchen and pianist was Amanda Mausser.

Parents of the couple are Jeanette & Ken Mausser and Ron & Sharon McLees of Cascade and Marsha and Ernie Moestchen of Villisca. The bride was given away by her father Ron McLees and step father Ken Mausser.

A reception was held at Peosta Knights of Columbus Hall.

Matron of honor was Nicole Shawley of Donahue, IA, friend of the couple. Maid of honor was Jennifer McLees of Cascade, IA, sister of the bride. The bride is a graduate from Upper Iowa University at Fayette, IA and is employed by Jackson County Conservation Board as an assistant naturalist.

The groom is a graduate from Hawkeye Community College at Waterloo, IA and is employed by McLees Plumbing and Heating.

A wedding trip is planned for February on a Cruise to the Western Caribbean. The couple resides at 401 3rd Ave SW #C2, Cascade, IA 52033

The couple honeymooned at The Atlantis of the Bahamas. The couple reside in Glenwood.

Tanya Joyce O'Neill and Curtis Alan Gaunt, both of Villisca, were united in marriage on August 16, 2003, at the United Methodist Church in Villisca.

The bride is the daughter of Jerry O'Neill of Nodaway, and Joni and Lawrence Currin of Villisca. The groom's parents are Larry and Kathy Gaunt, also of Villisca. Pastor Albert Baker performed the double ring ceremony at 6 p.m. Paula Sink, Lenox, aunt of the groom, played "The Wedding March" on the organ.

The bride wore a two piece, white satin full-length gown with a scalloped neckline and a flowing train. The gown was accented with embroidered flowers and clear beads. She carried a bouquet of red roses.

Matron of honor was Connie TePoel, Villisca, sister of the groom. Bridesmaids were Tabitha O'Neill, Nodaway, sister of the bride; Crystal Kinser, Villisca, sister of the groom; and Tiffany O'Neill, Nodaway, sister of the bride. Train bearer was Mackenzie Gaunt, Villisca, niece of the groom. They all wore red satin tops and black satin full length skirts made by the bride's mother. The flower girl was Alaina Currin, Villisca, niece of the bride. She wore a black satin dress, which was also made by the bride's mother, with a red overlay on the skirt and five red satin roses with silver cording at the waistline. She carried a silver basket with red petals.

Best man was Larry Gaunt, Villisca, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Terry Currin, Villisca, brother of the bride; Jeremy Walker, Bloomfield, friend of the groom; and Tracy O'Neill, Nodaway, brother of the bride. They wore black tuxedos with red vests. Ring bearer was Chance TePoel, Villisca, nephew of the groom. He wore a tuxedo which matched the groomsmen.

The ushers were Kevin TePoel, Villisca, brother-in-law of the groom; Ron Kinser, Villisca, brother-in-law of the groom; William O'Neill, Corning, uncle of the bride; and Joe Hensley, Villisca, friend of the couple. She is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work degree through West Virginia University. Allison served as Youth Pastor of the Princeton Advent Christian Church before moving to Iowa.

Chris, the son of Rev. Frank and Candy Hall of Lenoir, NC, is a 1991 graduate of Brunswick High School, Brunswick, Georgia and a 1996 graduate of Appalachian State University. He is the pastor of the Villisca Advent Christian Church, Villisca, Iowa. He is the grandson of Juanita Buchanan and the late Jesse (Jake) Buchanan of Panama City, Florida and Myrtice Hall and the late Brock Hall of Jacksonville, Florida.

The couple is planning an open church wedding on December 13, 2003 at the Princeton Advent Christian Church.

Waste Industries in Crown Point, Indiana.

The ceremony is planned for November 8, 2003 at St. Thomas More Church in Munster, Indiana.

Penni Hartmann and Brian Blank are pleased to announce their
